Our story

Why a charity park?

The Building Fun Fund (BFF) was created to bring something wonderful to the National Capital Region: a family-focused amusement park called Ottawa’s Charity Park. It’s a simple idea with big impact — a place built for joy, with profits going back into programs that support community improvement initiatives, families, and children's health and education programs.

We’re in the planning and early fundraising stages now — exploring a potential site, shaping the first-phase attractions, and inviting the community to help build something that belongs to everyone.

What is the Building Fun Fund? ?

The Building Fun Fund (BFF) is a Canadian non-profit launching Ottawa’s Charity Park — a community-minded amusement park whose proceeds support local children’s and family initiatives.

What is Ottawa’s Charity Park? ?

A family-focused amusement park for the National Capital Region. Think classic midway charm, family-friendly rides, and seasonal events — all with a purpose.

Wait… Is Ottawa's Charity Park really the name? ?

Nope - don't worry! That's just our working title for now. We've got lots of exciting name ideas in the pipeline. We're keeping them under wraps for the time being to leave the door open for potential sponsorship and naming opportunities.

How will the park help the community? ?

We plan to donate proceeds to community improvement initiatives, programs that support families in need, as well as programs that help support children and their development, health and education.

Where will the park be located? ?

Location is key - and we're exploring sites in the Ottawa area with good highway access. When a location is finalized, we’ll share the news first with our mailing list (see below).

When will the park open? ?

We’re in the planning and fundraising phase now. Opening will be announced once the site and first-phase build are confirmed. Join the mailing list for updates.

How can I help right now? ?

The easiest way to help is to share! Tell your friends and family about us. Share our social media posts. Answer our poll questions and surveys. Join our mailing list to get updates and early opportunities to participate. Community feedback, volunteers, and founders-circle supporters will be key as we ramp up.

Will it be accessible and inclusive? ?

Yes. Accessibility and inclusion are baked into our planning — from wayfinding and queue design to quiet spaces and ride policies. We’ll publish specifics as design milestones are reached.
